As a DJ, you play a crucial role in the world of music and entertainment. Your primary job is to select and play music tracks for an audience, whether it's at a nightclub, music festival, wedding, or other events. DJs are responsible for creating a seamless flow of music that keeps the crowd engaged and entertained.

Preparation
Before any DJ sets foot on stage they have spent hours and hours preparing sets, analyzing music and curating sets. This is absolutely essential as the DJ is giving themselves all the tools they need to ensure there performance is to the highest quality possible. A good DJ will have a plan, and a back up plan, They will have playlists ready for any situation as a crowd may not always be vibing the set you have planned. With out clear and well thought out preparation a DJ is setting themselves up to fail or make mistakes. This course will teach you to prepare your set and organize your music like a professional performer. You will learn to methods that create "safety nets" giving you confidence to perform with pride.Performing
While performing there can be anywhere from 0 to a million eyes watching your performance (in person or online streaming) A DJ must always stay composed and in control while performing. The DJ is in control of the vibe, if the DJ is having fun and is confident in their performance, the crowd will follow. If the DJ is frustrated or un interested in there performance, the crowd will be as well. Having clear and well thought out planning will ensure you can be confident and proud of the set you are performing.Promotion
promotion is 80% of the role of a DJ. Having a strong social media presence and sellable brand is key in assuring that you get booked to play shows. In order for a promoter (event organizer) to book you to play shows you need to be able to prove to them that you can sell tickets to their show. By having a strong social media following and putting real effort into promoting the events you are booked to play, promoters can be assured that you are a good choice to book at their shows. Common platforms used to promote yourself as a DJ are, Instagram, Facebook, Tik-Tok and Soundcloud
